This is a highly visible, front-line position that deals with a variety of member and public contacts under varying circumstances. This position requires technical knowledge as well as ongoing contact and relationships with members, prospective members, land developers, electricians, vendors, building contractors, and government agencies.
Designs new overhead and underground lines and completes the job according to specifications and orders.
Design or prepare service and work orders.
Inspects completed jobs to see it meets all specifications and safety codes.
Must be thoroughly familiar with operation of substations, sectionalizing equipment, regulators, bypass switches, and the proper fusing of the system, and distribution layouts, feeds, and circuits.
Performs assigned work under minimal supervision and in compliance with established NESC, RUS, Cooperative specifications and policies, code safety rules, and general operation procedures.
Uses initiative and judgment in making routine decisions on design and operations.
Recognizes the need to understand that the Cooperative’s best interests can be directly affected by his/her actions.
Reviews and updates staking sheets after completion to account for all equipment.
Maintains, corrects, and updates distribution system GIS circuit maps and consumer location mapping as needed.
Maintains records necessary for work order accounting procedures and to support the formulation of work plans and reports required by RUS and all regulatory agencies.
Inspects tree trimming and/or removal requirements, facility damages, and to identify potentially hazardous situations. Acquires clearing of right-of–way as required.
Develops working knowledge of overall RUS, NESC and cooperative codes and specifications and internal operations such as mapping system and staking sheets.
Observes lines and reports to the Line Manager any needed maintenance when going to and from the job or takes any corrective action required. Reporting any unsafe conditions to the Line Manager immediately.
Coordinates all work with Line Manager or his equivalent, including planning, monitoring, and evaluating all aspects of the outside operations, including materials, equipment, and personnel.
