BCREMC has an opening for a paid Engineering Intern position for the Spring/ Summer/ Fall semesters of 2023. POSITION SUMMARY Candidate will work with the engineering and technology team to broaden knowledge in various distribution technologies used to monitor and maintain BCREMC’s infrastructure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Power Engineering • Maintain Electrical Distribution Design Model (EDD) and perform various fault analysis, voltage drop and coordination studies. • Troubleshoot AMI issues within Automated Metering System • Complete pole loading analysis using SPIDA CALC • Work with field engineers on distribution design and upcoming workplan projects as required. • Utilize ESRI GIS and GPS equipment to complete various types of analysis and staking sheets. SCADA • Program SCADA systems to communicate with field equipment including IEDs, RTUs, and meters. • Maintain and support SCADA servers, databases, data historian, SCADA one-lines, operator training, historian and related Electric Operations systems. • Create and update SCADA operator displays and databases. • Assist with Integration of peak load shedding program. • Coordinate SCADA infrastructure and display activities. • Provide technical support to internal staff for maintained systems.
QUALIFICATIONS / PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the company. • Demonstrate professional competence and self-motivation. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Effective analytical and critical thinking skills • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects. • Excellent with Microsoft Excel. • Ability to learn new computer software. • Analytical skills with attention to details • Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
