Hendricks Power Cooperative is now accepting applications for the position of Engineering Technician in Avon, Indiana. Hendricks Power is a rural electric cooperative which focuses on distributing electric services to more than 35,000 members within 4 counties.
Major responsibilities will include working to maintain and improve system reliability. In this role, you will lead efforts to enhance system reliability, taking on responsibilities that span both electric and fiber networks. This entails leading maintenance operations, trouble-shooting power quality concerns, scheduling and improving preventative maintenance schedules, maintaining proper documentation for all distribution equipment, addressing member power quality issues, implementing and assessing emerging technologies, and managing projects as directed by Operations and/or Engineering.
Preferred candidates will possess the qualifications listed below.
Education & Experience
Associate degree in electrical engineering technology or equivalent education and/or experience.
2+ years of experience in electric utility preferred.
2+ years knowledge of distribution line construction and maintenance preferred.
2+ years’ positive customer service experience.
Strong exposure to various computer software.
Basic electrical knowledge.
Basic fiber optic knowledge.

Must have strong technical and analytical skills.
Must have the ability to work closely with other departments, such as Engineering and IT, and help determine acceptable solutions.
Must have the physical ability to work inside an office environment and sit at a desk to handle various computer work and also work outdoors in all weather conditions and walking on various terrains.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, customers, and others.
Must be able to work effectively on a daily basis with a variety of individuals.
Must be able to be self-motivated, work independently and have leadership abilities.
Must be able to read, write and speak English with strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
Must be organized, detailed oriented and able to meet project deadlines.
