Member Service Representative – Orange County REMC, Orleans, IN
Orange County REMC in Orleans, Indiana is now accepting applications for the position of Member Service Representative primarily working in the Orange County area and occasionally assisting in other counties as needed.
The Member Service Representative (MSR) serves as the first point of contact for members of the electric cooperative, providing exceptional customer service through phone, email, and in-person interactions. This position is responsible for assisting members with billing inquiries, service requests, payments, and general information about cooperative programs and bylaws. The MSR plays a key role in promoting member satisfaction and representing the cooperative’s values in every interaction.
Preferred candidates will possess the minimum qualifications listed below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 2+ years of customer service or administrative experience required.
Proficient with computers and office software (Microsoft Office, customer information systems, billing software).
Multi-line phone system experience.
Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and work in a variable-paced environment.
Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with management, employees, members, and others.
Friendly, professional demeanor with a member-focused attitude.
Ability to work overtime, and on a rotating on-call basis for after hours and on weekends.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Respond to member inquiries in a courteous and professional manner via phone, email, or in person.
Assist members with account information, billing questions, service availability, high bill concerns, outage reporting, service transfers, new connections, disconnects, and miscellaneous service order requests.
Process payments, set up payment arrangements, and assist with billing concerns or disputes.
Prepare deposits for billing and ensure the balance of daily cash posting agrees with cash deposit totals.
Educate members about cooperative services, energy efficiency programs, and billing/payment options (e.g., budget billing, prepaid metering, auto-pay, due date extension).
Accurately enter and maintain member information in the cooperatives customer information system
Track and prepare member service activity reports, as needed.
Resolve member issues promptly or escalate them to the appropriate departments when necessary.
Maintain confidentiality of member information and adhere to cooperative policies and procedures.
Prepare letters, memorandums, and member service forms.
Work on special projects or cooperative programs, as needed.
Attend and participate in training programs and conferences for improvement of job knowledge, skill and safety.
Assist with the Annual Meeting.
Serve on-call as an after-hours dispatcher on a rotating basis.
