JOB SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION:
Under minimal supervision, provides prompt and courteous service to members, employees, and management. Will conduct radio/telephone dispatch operations for an electric cooperative and its subsidiaries in a professional manner. Coordinate both routine and non-routine power line maintenance activities to meet the needs of members. Receives work orders for construction or repairs, routes work orders to trucks, and compiles inventory, while providing prompt, courteous service to members, management, and employees, that is reinforced with cooperative values, principles, and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Creates, maintains, and coordinates service orders and construction work orders
- Dispatches service crews, as needed, to handle and restore service to consumers, including power outages and other problems
- Dispatch and receive radio transmission from field crews to coordinate assignments for power outage situations, service calls, and logging lockout tag out information
- Schedules appointments, creates, and maintains work requests in work management system for the staking technician. Organizes, prepares, and confirms all staking appointments
- Responsible for coordinating and confirming all requirements for work orders have been completed and releasing work orders to field crews or URD contractor(s)
- Analyze incoming information and provide service crews with information to identify issues and restore service
- Maintains constant monitoring of all communications in the field to know where service crews are located
- Manages priority maintenance inspections on unsafe member equipment
- Completes locates for work orders, pole and anchor replacements, and other projects as needed
- Responsible for maintaining right of way easement files
- Responsible for preparation of right of way easements for filing at each perspective county recorder’s office to ensure accuracy of all information to the specifications of each County
- Monitors Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System and Distribution Fault Anticipation System and responds appropriately to alarms
- Assist with all customer service needs such as connect, disconnect, security lights, temporary disconnects, service upgrades, purchase of materials, and staking appointments
- Dispatch and receive radio transmission from line and service trucks in order to coordinate assignments for power outage situations, and service calls
- Provides an audit system of daily time reports to ensure accuracy
- Processes work orders, timesheets and other material received from the crew
- Maintains, enters, and verifies material for inventory control
- Maintains monthly summary of work order charges for overhead costs
- Assists in the process of closing work orders to plant on a monthly basis
- Works closely with the accounting department to balance plant accounts and work orders
- Coordinates information for work order inspections as requested
- Verifies work in progress with contractors
- Relates with contractors on work in progress
- Assist warehouse personnel and line operations manager as needed
- Participates in annual meeting as required
- Create Monthly Job Numbers
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Must be able to work effectively daily with a variety of individuals
- Must have the ability to remain flexible and adaptable to change
- Must be able to use office equipment. i.e., multi-line phone system, fax machine, copy machine, shredder, two – way radio and have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must be able to work in an on-call status
- Must have the ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner in the workplace and while representing the company away from the office
- Possess considerable skill in exercising independent judgment and working in emergency situations with speed and accuracy
- Ability to understand/interpret verbal and written instructions
- Must observe all safety rules and regulations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- A High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of general accounting
- Working knowledge of RUS specifications
