South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is a not-for-profit electric and fiber distribution, member-owned cooperative. The cooperative is a leader in distribution technology and is headquartered in Martinsville, Indiana. SCI REMC serves seven counties including Morgan, Monroe, Owen, Brown, Johnson, Putnam and Clay with over 3,650 miles of energized lines and 35,800 electric members and about 12,500 fiber subscribers. Key Position Responsibilities
- Assisting with and learning to construct, maintain, and operate SCI REMC’s outside fiber plant.
- Assisting with and learning how to splice drops and large count cables, troubleshooting, and testing fiber plant utilizing a variety of tools such as an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR).
- Climbing utility poles, working off ladders, operating bucket trucks, pulling trailers, and using other equipment to safely construct and maintain fiber plant while observing minimum approach distances to energized electric facilities.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE: One year of hands-on, demonstrated working experience with fiber construction, troubleshooting, and maintenance preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to understand and effectively use the Cooperative’s mapping systems.
- Must be able to interact effectively with members and customers in a variety of situations, exercise good judgment and remain professional and effective when stress is high.
- Solid digital literacy and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Organized and self-driven.
- Work effectively as a member of a team or independently as required.
- Must be regular in work attendance.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
